Bei ricordi Sweet memories

Solo due settimane di scuola ed ho già i bimbi a casa ammalati! :o(
Per questa ragione, avendo sospeso in questi giorni ogni lavoretto in corso, non ho niente di "appena sfornato" da mostrarvi. Ho pensato allora di pubblicare la foto del cestino porta-salviette per ospiti che tengo in bagno, accanto al lavabo. Queste salviette rappresentano uno dei tanti bei ricordi che mi ha lasciato mia mamma, da cui ho ereditato la passione per gli hobbies creativi, ed in particolare per il ricamo.

For this reason, on these last few days I have ceased temporarily all my works-in progress. I have decided yet to show you a photo of the basket that I keep in the bathroom, near the washbasin, containing two little guests-towels. They are one of the many embroidered memories that my mum left me. I inherited the passion for crafts and especially for embroidery from her.

In questi giorni, complici la riapertura delle scuole e qualche attimo di tempo libero in più, ho deciso di mettere momentaneamente da parte il punto croce...e di riprendere in mano i pennelli!
A dire la verità mi sono accorta di essere proprio fuori allenamento, le vacanze estive mi hanno allontanato da colori e pennelli per tre mesi, quindi non guardate troppo da vicino o noterete tutte le magagne!

On these days, I put aside my cross stitch work in progress for a while and decided to take my brushes in hand! Actually, I have realized I was really out of practice... During Summer holidays, with my kids home, I have been without painting for three months. So, please, do not look at it too closely, or you will see all imperfections! I painted this Candy Cane Mitten Ornament on a wood shape. The design is from the book Christmas Spice, by Renee' Mullins.


....E questo è il "work-in-progress" di punto croce che ho accantonato. Una volta finito, dovrebbe diventare il risvolto di una calza natalizia. E' un pattern di Debbie Mumm, tratto dal libro Country Noel (fuori stampa).

Stoffe per Quilting... Trip to a Quilting shop

Come preannunciato dalla mia amica Silva nel suo blog, sabato scorso siamo finalmente riuscite a combinare e siamo andate, insieme ai miei bimbi, a fare visita al bellissimo negozio Country Creations di Federica, a Costamasnaga. Caspita, che meraviglia! Io e Silva sembravamo due bimbe nel Paese dei Balocchi, ci siamo subito immerse tra le bellissime creazioni di Federica, le stoffe per quilting e pupazzeria, i bottoni, i pizzi, gli accessori più svariati...la nostra vena creativa era in ebollizione!
Silva, poi, ha acquistato delle stoffe dalle meravigliose tonalità rosa e verdi per il quilt che ha appena iniziato...non vedo l'ora di vedere il suo primo blocco!

Last Saturday I went with my friend Silva and my children to visit a shop specialized in Quilting and Doll Making supplies, named "Country Creations di Federica". It is located in Costamasnaga (Northern Italy, near Lake Como). We liked it so much! It was full of lovely fabrics, laces, buttons and all kind of quilting supplies. Our creativity was really in a ferment, admiring such lovely things. Federica's creations are soo cute!
Silva purchased some wonderful green and "antique pink" fabrics for a quilt that she is going to start. I am looking forward to admiring her first block!

I purchased these fabrics. I would like to use them for some Tilda projects I am thinking of... So many projects...so little time...!

Back to school!

Lunedì scorso c'è stata la riapertura delle scuole dopo le vacanze estive, ed anch'io sono stata "travolta" dal caotico vortice della ripresa di tutte le attività dei miei bimbi...

E' sempre una grande emozione vederli "ripartire", caricati e pronti per affrontare un nuovo anno scolastico, con tutte le gioie e le fatiche che questo comporterà.
Auguro a loro ed a tutti i bimbi che hanno appena iniziato o ripreso la scuola un meraviglioso e sereno anno scolastico!

Last Monday schools began again after Summer Holidays. I have been so busy with all preparations for my two children and the resumption of all their activities. The kids were very excited on their first school day, and me too... It is so touching to see them ready to face the new scholastic year!
I wish them and all kids all over the world a wonderful and serene school year.

Il porta-aghi monocromatico del mio post precedente mi ha fatto tornare in mente il piccolo sampler che un paio d'anni fa avevo ricamato per il compleanno di una mia amica. Lo schema l'avevo scaricato gratuitamente dal sito di Isabelle Vautier .
E' ancora disponibile nella sezione "Mes Archives" del suo sito, si chiama "Amitiè Sampler", ma purtroppo pare non essere più completamente gratuito. Per poterlo scaricare si deve essere in possesso di un codice di accesso ottenibile tramite una telefonata (a pagamento...)

The monochromatic needlebook of my previous post has just reminded me of the little "Amitiè Sampler" that I stitched for a friend of mine a couple of years ago . The chart was a freebie of Isabelle Vautier . It is still available in the "Mes Archives" section of Isabelle Vautier's web site, but actually I have just realized that now it seems not to be totally free any more , since a special access code is needed to dowload the chart (and that is not free unfortunately...)

Il mio primo porta-aghi a libretto - My first (simple) needlebook

Ho realizzato il mio primo porta-aghi!
Mi sono ispirata ad un modello visto sul libro "Alphabets Anciens" di Veronique Maillard, ed anche lo schema del ricamo è tratto dallo stesso libro. Oltre allo stile country-americano, mi piace molto lo stile francese dei ricami monocromatici, che trovo così dolce ed elegante, nella sua semplicità.
Ho usato una banda in lino naturale per l'esterno e le taschine, lino panna per l'interno e feltro per le "pagine" porta-aghi.
Non guardatelo troppo da vicino... come dicevo, è il mio primo porta-aghi... ed ho ancora molto da imparare e da migliorare! :o)

I have just finished my first needle-keeper. I have been inspired by the book "Alphabets Anciens", by Veronique Maillard. The needlework chart is from that book too. I really love the French Style of monochromatic embroidery, it is so stylish, elegant, sweet and simple at the same time. I love simplicity in things and in people's hearts.
I have used a natural linen band for the outside and the little pockets, antique white linen for the inside and felt for the inner "pages".
Please do not look at it too closely...it is my very first one, and I have yet to improve and learn much! :o)
