Christmas stitching...

Winter Sampler, free chart by Caroline Hofstede
Fabric: Belfast 32 count Light Mocha Linen
Threads: DMC ( I replaced
355 with 221)

I have stitched this pincushion as a Christmas gift for a dear friend of mine. I put it together with a white lantern (the one in the first photo), symbol of light.
It's a free chart by Caroline Hofstede, available here.

Joyeux Noel by Maryse
Fabric: Light Mocha 32 count Linen
Threads: DMC 815 and White as charted

Grazie Maryse! E' uno schema così carino!
...And for another dear friend, Hanni, I stitched this greetings card.
It's a free chart offered by Maryse and I am happy to take this opportunity to say her "thank you", from the bottom of my heart, for offering and sharing it with us.
Thanks Maryse, this chart is so cute!

Lynette Anderson's Home Sweet Home WIP

Ciao a tutte!

Hi everyone! :) I am sorry I have been without blogging for so long time... I have been "overcome" by very busy days, that compelled me to limit my stitching and blogging time...I have been missing all of you!
Thanks from the bottom of my heart to all those of you who left so lovely comments on my previous posts. Your messages warm my heart and are very precious to me!
I have not many things to show you, just my Lynette Anderson's Stitchery WIP. I am enjoying it very much, Nataliejo is right, it is a treat! I even could stitch a section of it in my car, waiting for my son out of school! :)
P.S. For those who asked, I purchased the pattern here.

Stitchery...

I am not sure I like all Stitchery, but for sure I fell in love with this Lynette Anderson's design, wonderfully stitched and quilted by Nataliejo, that you can see clicking here. Isn't it wonderful?
Tempted and inspired, I decided to try and make my first Stitchery piece. Pattern, muslin, fabrics, needle and thread are ready to start. Now, I would need "only" some free time...that is a very hard-to-find "ingredient" lately...

Ciao!
Of course, I could not let this beautiful pattern make his trip to me by its own and ordered this so cute "Here Kitty" pattern, just to give it a friend... ;) It is so nice, isn't it?
I hope to be able to show you at least a little start soon... Bye!

Little Updates...

Here I am! I am sorry I have been without updating the blog and without putting even one stitch for so many days ... I have been very very busy with my family life and so many things to do...I would need 48 hours in a day! :)

2.Be Happy!
3.Nina- Xszemkzot...Between Crosses

I also want to say "Thanks" to all those who have left so kind comments to my previous posts. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you cannot imagine how your comments make me happy and how I love to visit all your blogs daily and be inspired by you all!

Wishing you all Happy Halloween, I show you this very rickety Jack'o Lantern I tried to realize with my kids. Yes, I know... it is not a masterpiece at all...! :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN A TUTTI!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO EVERYONE!

My LHN Neighborhood is going ahead, stitch by stitch... It is such an enjoyable design! I cannot wait to see it finished. I changed the colour of the fence in the lower section, as "white" did not stand out enough against my coffee dyed linen. After a few "tests" with other colours, I decided on DMC 612. Thanks for looking, bye!

Christmas Motif Sampler

Christmas Motif Sampler, JBW Designs
36 count (14 fili) Flax linen
Thread: Au Ver a Soie (Soie d'Alger) 946, one over two (un filo su due fili)

Christmas is drawing near and when I realize that and get into a panic, I try and make headway with some little project, like this Christmas Mitif Sampler by JBW Design...I stitched it with Au Ver au Soie Silk, one over two.
I love to stitch with silk, it is so soft and pleasant!

LHN chart pro Unicef and Cata's Give Away

Thank Yuko, I discovered that Diane Williams from LHN charted this sweet design for the benefit of Unicef. I purchased it from Gigi (stitcher from Belgium), sending her a Paypal payment of Euros 8,50. If you are interested in it, you should contact her clicking on "Contactez l'auteur" on the left sidebar on her blog, just above the item "CATEGORIES".
I have just received the chart, it is so cute!
On Gigi's blog you can see it already finished by a few stitchers.

You might want to take part to my friend Cata's "Give Away", you are still in time! You just have to leave a comment on her blog on that post. Comments will be closed Thursday, October 16th and the winner announced on Friday October 17th, 2008.
Bye!

WIP Neighborhood and little game...

Here I am, I've just been through the first seasonal flu viruses, that in the last few days put "KO" my kids, then me and then my DH.
With my stomach upside down I could not stitch very much...The only little progress I have to show you is on my Neighborhood. Very slowly, stitch by stitch, it goes on and I am liking stitching it sooo much!

Thanks to all of you for your so kind comments left on my previous posts, you made me so happy!

Buon divertimento e grazie ancora Manu!
...And thanks to Manuela, who tagged me with a funny game, in order to translate my name into Chinese idioms through this site. According with the rules, I should tag other five bloggers, but I would like to extend it to whomever would like to try! Have fun!

First Day of Autumn

E' arrivata la mia stagione preferita... cadono le foglie... ed io ho iniziato "Spot of Autumn" di The Drawn Thread.
Buon Autunno a tutti!

My favourite season has finally started...leaves fall...and I have started Spot of Autumn, by The Drawn Thread.
Happy Fall to everyone!

Spot of Winter finished!

E' "Spot of Winter"di Drawn Thread.

Another little project just for taking a break from my Neighborhood. I have just finished to stitch "Spot of Winter" by The Drawn Thread. It is the fourth of four seasonal patterns. I have decided to start from Winter since it is a sesaon that I love...and since my kids wanted to see the snowman stitched! :)
I am a bit uncertain whether to finish it as a little pillow as charted or if to frame it...We will see...

The Drawn Thread: Spot of Winter
Fabric/Tela: 32 count (12 fili) Antique Ivory Belfast Linen
Threads/Fili: DMC e WDW, as charted

WIPs...

WIP 1: Holly and Ivy by Country Cottage Needlework
32 count (12 fili) Blush Belfast Linen

WIP 2: Sarah's ABC Pincushion, Blackbird Design -
"Thank You, Sarah Tobias" Book

40 Count (16 fili) Linen, coffe-dyed by me
Thread: Needle Necessities

Ciao!

I took a break from my large stitching projects in the last few days and I have been devoting myself to a couple of smaller and faster pieces that I would like to give as Christmas gifts.
As you can see, they are still WIPs... I love to see others' WIPs, since they show how things are "built", stitch by stitch, stroke by stroke...
I think to finish both of them as pinkeeps.
Bye!

Back to school and...an award!

Oggi anche qui sono ricominciate le scuole...
Voglio augurare a tutti i bimbi un
meraviglioso nuovo anno scolastico!
Forza ragazzi!

Today schools resume after Summer holidays!
I wish all kids a wonderful School Year!
I hope they will have a great time!

I want to say "thank you" to Claudia, Paola e Livia, three new friends of mine, who have launched their beautiful blog last June and who have honoured me with this award.
Thanks again, from the bottom of my heart!

I have to pass the awards to three other bloggers...what a difficult choice!

I do not know if I am allowed, but I give again this award to :
Claudia, Paola e Livia
...beacause I am fond of their blog.

Assegno poi il premio a:
L'Atelier de Framboise e Chocolat
Che realizzazioni meravigliose!
I give the award also to:

L'atelier de Framboise e Chocolat
Because she makes wonderful and very inspiring things!

who makes wonderful needleworks.
She took part to the Neighborhood SAL with me and was the first one to finish!

Ciao! Bye!

I know, I know, It is still too hot to bake, but I could not resist temptation! This Apple and Cinnamon Cake can be a comfort food in the end of Summer holidays! I learned this recipe by Mias Landiv's blog. Thanks Mias! The pleasant smell of apples and cinnamon spreads throughout home while baking and it is delicious...

TORTA DI MELE NORVEGESE
230 g. zucchero
175 g farina
100 g. burro
150 ml. latte
2 uova
2 cucchiaini cannella in polvere
3 mele
un pizzico di sale

NORWEGIAN APPLE CAKE
230 g sugar
175 g plain flour
100 g butter
1,5 dl milk
2 eggs
3 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons cinnamon powder
3 apples
1 pinch salt

Put butter and milk into a pan and bring to boil.

Whisk the eggs with 200 grams of sugar and the pinch of salt until the mixture is creamy.

Stir, still boiling, the milk and butter into the eggs and sugar. Whisk again.

Sieve in the flour and baking powder into the batter and blend carefully.

Peel, core and slice the apples, better if you have a little "chef assistant"! ;-)

Pour the mixture into a cake tin. Arrange the apples slices over the batter.

Sprinkle with the remaining sugar mixed with two teaspoon of cinnamon. Bake at 180° C for about 40 minutes until well risen and golden brown. Baking time depends on the oven, it may vary.

Et voilà! Bon appetit!
Fatemi sapere come è venuta...
Let me know how it tastes, if you try it!

I am back!

Finally I am back home! We ended up extending our vacation of an additional week. The place was so delightful, the weather so sunny, the air so fresh, our kids so fond of mountain life, so that we decided to stay there some additional day.
This is a small photo-collage, memory of our holidays. How exciting was to take a photo of that wild deer in the wood!

I hoped to be able to do more stitching during my holidays, but vacations with kids are rather busy! ;-) In a couple of weeks schools are re-starting in our area and then I hope to have more time to stitch.
I had also a little "accident" with my needlework, that slowed me up still further.
One day I left my piece on a deckchair in the sun for about a hour during lunch-time and then all the circle of fabric that was tightened in the wood-hoop faded because of the sunlight. A horrible lighter circle appeared in the middle of my piece! When I saw it, I horrified. I tried to remedy washing it, but did not improve it at all. Then I tried and coffee-dye it again. This made the fabric colour uniform again but, obviously, dyed also my stitches... Then I was tempted to restart afresh stitching on a new piece of fabric but unfortunately I had not packed up any other piece of linen before leaving and on the mountains where we were the nearest Needlework shop was not so near... Then, there was not anything else to do but undo almost all of my stitching and stitch it again...grrr...! :-(
This is my little progress...Thanks for looking!

Holidays...

Ritten, Alto Adige

Hi! I am about to leave for a two weeks' holiday with my family (DH and our two kids). We are going to the mountains and unfortunately we will not have the Internet connection there, then I will be able to post or read posts only on my return.

Here is my very little progress on LHN "Neighborhood", made during a break from packing.
Thanks for looking and Happy Summer!

My first box...

I have been without posting anything in the last few months and now I have to catch up! ;-)
I had so much fun with this project. I previously stitched this monochrome pattern by Marjorie Massey on 36 ct. Flax Linen with one thread of Au Ver a Soie Silk.

Ecco qualche passaggio...

Then I took a "Cartonnage" class at my LNS, "La Butega", where I learned to make boxes with fabric and cardboard.
Here is the WIP...

Ed ecco il risultato.
And here is the finished work.

Grazie della visita, ciao ciao!
Thanks for looking, bye bye!

LHNeighborhood SAL

I am so excited I have just joined my first SAL!
It is the Little House Neighborhood SAL, and this is my very little start...
I am stitching it on a 36 count Zweigart linen, coffee-dyed by me. Unfortunately the Antique Ivory shade is not available in a 36 count and then I have tried to re-create that shade dyeing it with coffee, starting from a 36 ct Antique White linen as a base. The achieved color is identical! :-)
